Lean Kaizen Mela

Home / Events / Lean kaizen mela

Lean Kaizen Mela is an exclusive opportunity for participants to become familiar with the pillars of Operational Excellence. The Mela is a melting pot of various industries coming together and participating in the Case Study Competition and Guided Factory Tour to showcase their best practices and pillars of excellence. The key objective of this Mela is to share, learn and grow together.

Over the last decade the Indian economy has witnessed a surge in the demand of adopting business excellence practices across sectors. The market is emerging like never before. Business houses are trying to boost their brands at both the home and the overseas. Private as well as public sector is hugely impacted by the "Make In India" campaign. The need of standardized pra

ctices, and excellence framework has risen beyond the manufacturing sector to impact even the construction, healthcare and services sector.

However the business challenges are achieving higher efficiency and enhanced profitability with the same resources. For Indian Companies, a lot of ground needs to be covered to become truly competitive in the global market. The customers will pay for the real "value-added" and not for the wasteful processes, like rework, overprocessing or so. This can be achieved by building a culture of continual improvements and adopting sustainable business practices. The onus lies with the leaders in the industry to produce right products and services at all times and live up to the global standards.

Improving by learning from the leaders

In a rapidly changing environment the organisations look for processes and systems that have already been developed to meet robust customer requirements. Yet, only the most flexible reach the end of the journey.  E.g. in 2001 the Indian tractor industry was hit by a downturn, Mahindra and Mahindra set out a R&D endeavor by setting up global benchmarks and adopted best practices to improve dynamically in areas like operational efficiency, supply chain, sales and inventory. Fourteen years down the line, they have become number one in sales in India and also have become the largest tractor manufacturers in the world. Benchmarking with global organisations will impart a thorough understanding of the strengths of the organisation. The only way to improve performance is by constantly identifying, understanding and adapting the Best Practices of the industry.

At Lean Kaizen Mela, the industry leaders will come forth to showcase their capabilities. Here are a few indian companies that stood out in their journey towards business excellence.
