Lean Kaizen Mela 2011 – The Event
This year’s Lean Kaizen Mela was held at Hotel Four Points by Sheraton, Viman Nagar.
The theme of the VIIth Lean Kaizen Mela was Lean Leadership. The event was attended by various eminent trainers and practitioners of Lean Kaizen. Our Chief Guest was Mr. RB Madhekar, Chief General Manager and COO of Maruti’s MACE (Maruti Centre for Excellence) and other guests included Dr Shrinivas Gondhalekar or Dr. G as he popularly is known as, Dean Operations at Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai.
Mr Ratin Sinha, Honorary Secretary of DCCIA Pune was present to render the event open.
An oath was taken to eliminate the darkness and illuminating the world with positive energy. All the eminent guests were then invited to light the lamp.
Our first speaker was Mr HP Srivastava, Vice Chiarman, DCCIA Pune. He spoke on the history of DCCIA Pune, its rise from NRIA to NRICCA and now DCCIA Pune. He also reiterated the Values and Guiding Principles of the Chamber and emphasized on the timely need of Lean Kaizen as the best Management Practice.
Our second Speaker was Mr. Yogesh Vaghani, Director Vedzen Institute who spoke on Lean Leadershup. His speech on Lean Leadership defined the way a Leader should behave in his daily activities. Leadership is not the position and is an attribute to be practiced in action.
Dr G spoke on customer and supplier relationship of give and take. The reason why most of us fail to understand the concept of Customer-Supplier relationship is that we tend to keep the definition and roles very rigid. It is a dynamic relationship that generates clear responsibilities and shared accountability. He also focused on Quality not being an external function and as an online tool.
Madhekar San explained us the reasons for laying the foundation for employee empowerment, self-discipline and recognition. He reviewed the 10 Kaizen Principles and the 5 Gemba Principles. The Roadmap to achieving Overall Growth was drawn for maximum productivity.
He also laid stress on Quality and Safety Improvements through people involvement. The Lean Leaders shared their experiences with the participants and taught them the lean way of productivity and value addition.
